Designer Dresses Under $300 for Women: Hand-Embroidered, Printed and Original Designs
There is a gap in the market that almost nobody fills, and this page is where I sit in it. Below it, fast fashion: plastic-smelling fabric and stitching that goes after one wash. Above it, four-figure designer, which is a wonderful thing once every few years. In between there is very little — which is where a designer dress under $300 belongs. Every piece here starts under $300, every print and embroidery is my own, and every run is limited, so nobody else at the party is wearing it.
A note on price, because I would rather you read it here than find it at checkout: a small number of styles cost more in the largest sizes. The size selector on each product page shows your exact price before you add anything to the cart.
Why this price point exists at all
Designer clothing did not get better over the last five years. It got more expensive. WWD reported Morgan Stanley's assessment that luxury brands “cannot play with the pricing lever anymore” and will need to recruit again from the middle and upper-middle class — and noted middle-class shoppers moving to brands with a wide spread of price points at a time when European luxury costs too much.
The numbers back it up. Wholesale data from Joor, reported by WWD, shows the share of handbag units sold above $1,000 fell from 6.1% in the first half of 2022 to 2.5% in the first half of 2026, while the under-$250 bracket became the fastest-growing segment, rising from 15.8% to 22.3% of units. That is handbags rather than dresses, but the direction is the whole story: demand is concentrating at accessible prices, and people have stopped accepting that a high number means a good garment.
I am not undercutting anyone. I am charging what the garment costs to make properly, which lands between $198 and $298 for most of what I do. I trained at Alexander McQueen; I know exactly what the markup above this line is paying for, and it is usually not the dress.
What $300 actually buys here
- An original print. Every print, textile and embroidery is designed by me, drawn from travel — Barcelona's stained glass, Rajasthani palace murals, Moroccan geometry, art deco. Not bought from a print house, not on anyone else's rail.
- Natural fabric. 100% cotton poplin, cotton-linen, viscose-linen satin, silk, velvet.
- Hand work where it belongs. Hand embroidery and hand beading on the pieces that call for it, which takes days rather than minutes.
- Small batches. Made against orders, in limited runs, which is why the middle sizes go first.
- Sizes graded to 3XL on a large part of the range.
Maxi dresses under $300
The Antonia ($285) is a green and teal A-line maxi with handmade floral tassel straps and a Versailles-inspired ornamental print, stocked to 3XL and one of my most visited pieces. The Duchess ($298) is a red and gold printed kaftan maxi, and the Carolina ($265) is pink with a single balloon sleeve — both also to 3XL.
In cotton: the black, yellow and pink square-neck poplin fit-and-flare maxis are $298 each, all 100% cotton and all to 3XL. The Jaali ($298) is a flowy V-neck, Samode ($298) is royal blue cotton with hakoba ruffle sleeves, and Jharokha ($298) is the rust orange version. Further down: Belle ($258), Bloom ($258) in hand-embroidered emerald, June ($258), Gustav ($258), Char Bagh ($228), Deco Teal ($228) and Elsa ($198). All in maxi dresses.
Midi dresses under $300
The Begum ($288) is a burgundy midi shirt dress with a tassel tie belt, stocked to 3XL. The Louis ($238) is a printed halter midi built to move, and the green bell-sleeve midi ($255) is the wedding-guest one. Also here: Casablanca ($298), Tangier ($298), the pink and yellow colour-block midi ($278), Queen ($258) and Vienna ($198). See midi dresses.
Mini dresses and shirt dresses under $300
The Versailles ($258) is a pink printed mini shirt dress, the Bagh ($228) is the orange floral one with a swing hem and goes to 3XL, and Marie ($278) has a hand-embroidered bodice. Also: Alice ($298) in metallic foil print with a sequin-disc hem, Kamal ($228) in iridescent jacquard, Marrakech ($298), Pia ($298), Mosaic ($258), Coral ($229), Kesar ($228) and Orchid ($219). See mini dresses.
Wrap dresses under $300
A wrap ties where you want your waist, which makes it the most forgiving shape I cut — and the most searched. Shahe ($258) is royal blue, Tiffany ($228) is pink and goes to 3XL, Tulip ($228), Freesia ($225), Poppy ($199) is the floral, and Mughal ($198) has the exaggerated puff sleeves. All in wrap dresses.
By the occasion you are actually shopping for
For a wedding, a printed maxi with a defined waist — the Antonia, Carolina or Duchess. For a party or the holidays, something that catches light, like the hand-beaded Jewel ($258) or Alice. For resort and travel, cotton and linen that packs flat. By shape, the fit and flare edit is the place to start, and hand embroidered dresses is where the slowest work sits.
Reading first: my six wedding guest dress rules, plus size wedding guest dresses, what to wear in Las Vegas and ten artisanal resort and occasion-wear brands I love — which includes the people I think are doing this price bracket properly besides me.
Buying fewer, better things
I would rather sell you one dress you wear for ten years than four you wear twice. That is not a slogan, it is how the pieces are cut and finished, and it is the only argument that justifies $298 over $29. It also only works if the dress survives, so read my garment care guide — wash less, never hot, no dryer, and keep prints out of direct sun. If you want to know how the clothes are actually made and what I do and do not claim about it, I wrote that down too: sustainable fashion, and what we actually do about it. And if you want the argument for colour over playing it safe, that one is here.
Sizing, shipping and the fine print
Sizes run XS to 3XL and the range offered varies by style, so check the size selector on the piece you want — the Antonia, Carolina, Duchess, Begum, Bagh, Jaali and the black, yellow and pink poplin maxis all go to 3XL. My models are 5'8" to 5'9", so a hem that reads mid-calf in a photograph will sit lower on a shorter frame. Measure against the size chart before you choose, and see the full plus size collection.
Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days from Scottsdale, Arizona. US shipping is free on orders over $250; below that it is charged by zone at checkout. Afterpay is available.

Questions about buying a designer dress under $300
Are all of these dresses really under $300?
Every piece on this page starts under $300. A small number of styles price higher in the largest sizes. The size selector on each product page shows you the exact price for your size before you add anything to the cart, so there is no surprise at checkout.
What do you actually get in a designer dress under $300?
An original print or embroidery designed by me rather than bought in, made in a limited run. Natural fabrics — cotton poplin, cotton-linen, viscose-linen satin, silk, velvet. Hand work where the piece calls for it, including hand embroidery and hand beading. Sizes graded to 3XL. What you do not get is a four-figure price for the same thing.
Why are designer dresses usually so much more expensive?
Because the price stopped tracking the garment. WWD reported Morgan Stanley's view that luxury brands “cannot play with the pricing lever anymore” and need to recruit from the middle and upper-middle class again. Data from Joor, reported by WWD, shows the share of handbag units sold above $1,000 fell from 6.1% in the first half of 2022 to 2.5% in the first half of 2026, while the under-$250 bracket became the fastest-growing segment.
Is a $300 dress good quality?
It depends entirely on where the money went. At this price you should expect natural fibre fabric, finished seams, a lining where the fabric needs one, and a print nobody else is selling. What you should not expect is a logo you are paying for. Everything here is designed and pattern-cut by me, and made in small batches against orders.
What is the best dress under $300 for a wedding guest?
A printed maxi with a defined waist. The Antonia green A-line maxi at $285, the Carolina pink one-shoulder at $265 and the Duchess red kaftan at $298 are the three I would pick, and all three are stocked to 3XL. For a cotton option at an outdoor or daytime wedding, the square-neck poplin maxis are $298 in black, yellow and pink.
Do you have dresses under $300 in plus sizes?
Yes. Sizes run XS to 3XL and the range offered varies by style, so check the size selector on the piece you want. The Antonia, Carolina, Duchess, Begum, Bagh, Jaali and the black, yellow and pink poplin maxis all go to 3XL. Models are 5'8" to 5'9", so a hem reading mid-calf in a photograph sits lower on a shorter frame.
Do you ship free?
US shipping is free on orders over $250. Below that, shipping is charged by zone at checkout. Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days from Scottsdale, Arizona, and Afterpay is available at checkout.
How do I make a dress at this price last?
Wash it less than you think, and never in hot water. Hand wash or use a mesh bag on a cold delicate cycle, skip the dryer, and hang printed and embroidered pieces out of direct sun. Hand-beaded and velvet pieces should be dry cleaned. I wrote a full garment care guide because buying fewer, better pieces only works if they survive.
