Most women searching for a purple dress aren't browsing — they're matching. A wedding palette, a bridal party colour, a season. Which makes the shade the thing that actually matters, and "purple" a considerably less useful word than it looks.
The shades, distinguished properly: lavender is pale and cool with a grey undertone — soft, spring-weight, and the most wearable purple in daylight. Lilac runs slightly warmer and pinker than lavender. Mauve is dustier and greyer again, closer to a muted rose. Plum and aubergine are deep and warm, suited to autumn and evening. Amethyst is the brightest and most saturated. This collection currently runs lavender through to true purple — if you need a deep plum or aubergine, we don't have it in stock today, and it's worth saying so rather than sending you to look.
The Ramona Purple Maxi is $68, down from $198 — the strongest price in the collection. The Rara Lavender Off-Shoulder Dress is $168 from $328 and the most-reviewed piece here. The Gond Cocktail Dress is a lavender bodycon from $138, and the Queen Wrap Midi runs pink through purple in an exclusive print. Every style is cut XS through 3XL, designed by Project Runway Season 13 designer Sandhya Garg.
On styling: gold jewellery warms the deeper purples and reads richer against plum; silver and white gold sit better with cool lavender and lilac. Nude and metallic shoes keep the leg line unbroken; black works for evening but can weigh down a pale lavender. Purple is one of the safest wedding guest colours — it's festive, it photographs well, and it appears on no one's list of shades to avoid. Just check the wedding party isn't already wearing it.

What is the difference between lavender, lilac and plum?
Lavender is pale and cool with a grey undertone. Lilac is slightly warmer and pinker. Mauve is dustier and greyer, closer to a muted rose. Plum and aubergine are deep, warm and saturated, suited to autumn and evening. Amethyst is the brightest. If you're matching a wedding palette, ask for the specific shade name rather than "purple" — the difference between lavender and lilac is visible in photographs.
Can you wear purple to a wedding?
Yes — purple is among the safest wedding guest colours. It reads festive and elegant, photographs well in most lighting, and appears on virtually no list of shades to avoid. The only real check is whether the wedding party is already wearing purple, in which case pick a different family so you're not mistaken for a bridesmaid.
What colour shoes and jewellery go with a purple dress?
Gold warms deeper purples like plum and aubergine. Silver and white gold complement cool lavender and lilac. Pearls work across every shade. For shoes, nude and metallic keep the leg line unbroken and let the dress lead; black is fine for evening but can overwhelm a pale lavender. Keep to one metal throughout rather than mixing.
What shade of purple works for which season?
Lavender and lilac read fresh for spring and summer, particularly in cotton and lighter fabrics. Mauve bridges the seasons. Plum, aubergine and deep amethyst suit autumn and winter, and work best in richer fabrics like velvet, satin and heavier viscose. For evening at any time of year, deeper shades photograph more reliably under low light.
Do purple dresses come in plus sizes?
Yes. Every style is cut across the full XS–3XL range in the same prints and shades, at the same price — there is no separate plus size line. Made-to-measure is available on any style for $50–$100 above retail.
★★★★★Kate CComfy yet feminine!
I got this navy floral dress and love it. It has a bright yet soft look. The material is light and cool making it wearable in warm or cool weather. Very comfortable and feminine feeling. Nice length- not too long or short - and great for dancing! It looked huge at first but fits great once I put it on. Love the boho style too.

★★★★★Ria LI love this dress
I loved this dress, As far as fit goes, the dress fits better on the bottom if you have hips and a butt. I do not fill out the dress well on the bottom, but that’s ok it’s still beautiful. This dress is stunning, I absolutely love it, I bought it for a friends wedding. I got tons of compliments on it! Highly recommend.

This shirt can be worn when you want to dress up or wear as a casual outfit! All you need!
Fabric is light weight and beautiful. Hits just right in length. Beautiful
Absolutely love this top!! So flattering and super comfortable I don’t have to worry about it riding up or anything.
These match perfectly with the stretch wide leg pants that I purchased. Ordered a size small and I’m 5’4, 130lb and the size small is perfect and very flattering!
These pants are so light and comfy- great for summer! I went with a large but easily could have done a medium since the waist is kind of loose. I have big hips though so I like the extra room.
