Bermuda is a British island territory in the North Atlantic Ocean known for its pink-sand beaches such as Elbow Beach and Horseshoe Bay. Its massive Royal Naval Dockyard complex combines modern attractions like the interactive Dolphin Quest with maritime history at the National Museum of Bermuda. The island has a distinctive blend of British and American culture, which can be found in the capital, Hamilton. Bermuda's pink sand beaches and clear, cerulean blue ocean waters are popular with tourists. Many of Bermuda's hotels are located along the south shore of the island. In addition to its beaches, there are a number of sightseeing attractions. Historic St George's is a designated World Heritage Site. Scuba divers can explore numerous wrecks and coral reefs in relatively shallow water (typically 30–40 ft or 9–12 m in depth), with virtually unlimited visibility. Many nearby reefs are readily accessible from shore by snorkellers, especially at Church Bay.
Bermuda's most popular visitor attraction is the Royal Naval Dockyard, which includes the National Museum of Bermuda, the famous and delicious Bermuda Rum cake and glass factory. Other attractions include the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, the Botanical Gardens and Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, lighthouses, and the Crystal Caves with stalactites and underground saltwater pools. It is not possible to rent a car on the island; public transport and taxis are available or visitors can hire scooters for use as private transport. We loved our scooter and riding around on it and discovering the beautiful Bermuda.

ST. GEORGE'S & THE EAST END
Step back in time as you stroll the centuries-old brick streets of the Town of St. George, Bermuda's former capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The well-preserved historic town and nearby fortress make St. George's and the East End a haven for British colonial architecture, history and culture. Nearby, discover many unique natural attractions, including the limestone formations of Tobacco Bay Beach, Tom Moore’s Jungle and the Crystal Caves of Bermuda. Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve and Ferry Reach National Park are both flush with flora and birdlife, including several rare species. On St. George's Island, you'll find the historic Town of St. George, great beaches and many historic treasures. In neighboring St. David’s Parish, climb a lighthouse, tour pristine nature reserves and visit the oldest home on the island. East-Enders have been welcoming visitors for centuries – discover the heritage that makes them so proud.

HAMILTON & CENTRAL BERMUDA
Central Bermuda is home to the capital City of Hamilton, a harbor town known for its blend of global sophistication, vibrant nightlife and local flavor. Enjoy dining, shopping, dance clubs and the island’s most cosmopolitan culture along Front Street downtown, and find great beaches, botanical gardens, lush parks and oceanfront golf nearby. There is cachet attached to living "close to town," and adjoining Paget Parish is home to some of the classiest real estate in the world. Central Bermuda's parishes surround the City of Hamilton, Bermuda’s picturesque, pastel-colored commercial heart. Neighboring Devonshire and Paget parishes offer natural attractions, historic churches, sandy bays and undulating hills to challenge cyclists and walkers.
HISTORIC ROYAL NAVAL DOCKYARD & South Shore Beaches
One of Bermuda’s most popular destinations, the historic Royal Naval Dockyard anchors the West End. The Dockyard is home to a major cruise ship port and serves as a hub for sightseeing, shopping, dining, entertainment and an array of island experiences. Nearby, you’ll find many of the renowned South Shore beaches, including Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Long Bay. Climb up Gibbs Hill Lighthouse for panoramic views of the South Shore, and explore the village of Somerset, home to calm bays, candy-colored churches and the most photogenic little drawbridge you’ll ever see. The West End is home to the Royal Naval Dockyard, a former Royal Navy stronghold now home to shops, a craft market, national museum, restaurants, attractions and the island's biggest cruise ship terminal. Discover the Dockyard, the South Shore beaches and many points of interest in-between.
BEACHES, COVES & CRESCENTS OF Pink Sand
Bermuda’s dramatic coastline holds hidden coves and wide crescents of beach, all blanketed by that iconic pale-pink sand and brushed by gentle surf. Some beaches are popular and prized, like Horseshoe Bay Beach, which USA Today named one of the Caribbean’s top 10 beaches (even though Bermuda isn’t technically in the Caribbean). Other beaches feel like secluded island hideaways. You’ll find great beaches across the island, but the famous South Shore is a perfect starting point. Whether you’re into active beaches or relaxing on quiet stretches of shore, you’ll find Bermuda beaches that fit your style – great places to swim, explore, watch wildlife, catch sunset and celebrate.
Horseshoe Bay Beach
One of my favorite Beaches ever. Sunbathers, swimmers, photographers and dreamers – none can resist the lure of Horseshoe Bay, one of the world’s most Instagrammed beaches. Maybe it's the blush pink sand, the clear blue waters or the unending ways to spend a day on the South Shore treasure. From bodysurfing to cave exploring, here are the basics for planning your visit. Named for its curving shape, popular Horseshoe Bay Beach flaunts Bermuda's trademark crystal blue waters and pink sands. Why so pink? That rosy shade results from a blend of crushed coral, coral and calcium carbonate called red forminifera.
GETTING THERE & BEACH RENTALS
Located on Bermuda’s South Shore, Horseshoe Bay is easy to access via public transportation: just take the #7 bus from the City of Hamilton or the Royal Naval Dockyard. Private taxi service, scooter rentals and two-seater, electric cars are also available. All the gear you need to make your beach outing fun, exciting and safe can be rented at Horseshoe Bay Beach. Chill out with towels, beach chairs and umbrellas or get active with snorkel equipment, boogie boards and paddle boards. For family time- Kids will love boogie boarding, volleyball, building sandcastles and burying themselves in the sand. And for water babies and children, Port Royal Cove is an enclosed bay that keeps the big waves out. Dramatic rock formations surround Horseshoe Bay, with hidden caves and tucked-away coves awaiting your discovery. Climb to the top of the tallest rock formation to catch stellar sunrises to start your day. Nothing tastes better than a hamburger or fish sandwich with your toes in the sand. At Rum Bum Beach Bar you’ll find both, as well as cold drinks, ice cream cones and house-blended Rum Swizzles. Along the boardwalk try pop-up concessions for ice cold, snow cones and other local treats. After your dip in the ocean, go exploring. You can walk the entire South Shore to Warwick Long Bay along the wild, beach trails. Or check out Gibb's Hill Lighthouse built in 1846 – the views are outstanding even before you climb the 180-plus steps to the top.
