The one rule first: no white, ivory, cream or champagne. Then check the wedding party's colours, since spring palettes lean heavily on blush, sage and dusty blue and it's easy to accidentally match the bridesmaids. Everything after that is open.
The real spring problem is that "spring" isn't one season. A late-March wedding needs sleeves, a layer and closed shoes. A late-May wedding is effectively summer. And most guests buy weeks ahead, with no idea what the day will actually bring. Three things solve it: choose a midi over a maxi, so you can add tights or boots if it turns cold; pick a fabric with body — cotton poplin, viscose linen — that won't cling in warmth or hang limply in cold; and buy the layer at the same time as the dress rather than hoping.
The Kamal Light Pink Jacquard Mini at $228 and the Noor Pink-Yellow Scalloped Midi are the softest spring choices. The Tangier Ombre Midi runs blush into blue across the skirt, and the Mehtab Twist-Knot Dress carries a Taj Mahal geometric print with bell sleeves — useful for a cooler ceremony. For outdoor and garden weddings, the Sahara Maxi and Mumtaz Orange Halter Maxi work in lighter weights. The Begum Burgundy Shirt Dress has full sleeves for early spring. Most pieces run $228 to $378.
On colour. Spring suits blush, sage, lavender, dusty blue, coral and butter yellow, plus florals of nearly any scale. Deeper jewel tones still work for evening receptions. What tends to look out of place is anything heavy — velvet, dark burgundy and thick brocade read autumn regardless of the cut. If the wedding is outdoors, a print hides creasing and grass marks far better than a solid.
On length and shoes. Midi is the most versatile spring length and the safest choice if the venue or forecast is uncertain. Maxi suits formal and evening spring weddings. For anything outdoors, a block heel or wedge stays on the surface of grass where a stiletto sinks — spring ground is often still soft.

What should I wear to a spring wedding?
A midi dress in a floral or pastel print with a light jacket is the most reliable spring choice, because it adapts to whatever the weather does. Choose fabrics with structure — cotton poplin, viscose linen — over thin jersey. Avoid white, ivory and cream, and check the wedding party's colours since spring palettes often use blush and sage.
What colours are best for a spring wedding guest?
Blush, sage, lavender, dusty blue, coral and butter yellow all suit spring, as do florals at any scale. Deeper jewel tones work for evening receptions. Velvet, dark burgundy and heavy brocade read autumnal regardless of cut. For outdoor weddings, a print conceals creasing and grass marks better than a solid colour.
Do you need sleeves for a spring wedding?
For March and early April, yes — or at least a jacket you can keep on. Late April and May are usually warm enough to go sleeveless, though evening receptions still cool sharply. The safest approach is a sleeveless or short-sleeved dress bought together with a jacket, rather than committing to long sleeves you may not need.
Can you wear florals to a spring wedding?
Yes — florals are close to the default for spring weddings, and a floral midi is one of the most reliable guest choices available. Avoid prints on a predominantly white or ivory ground, which can photograph as bridal. Larger prints suit maxi lengths; smaller repeats suit midi and petite frames.
What shoes should I wear to an outdoor spring wedding?
Block heels, wedges and espadrilles, because spring ground is often still soft and a stiletto sinks into grass. Closed toes are worth considering for early spring or after rain. If there's dancing later, pack flats — and check whether the ceremony is on grass before committing to a heel at all.
★★★★★Kate CComfy yet feminine!
I got this navy floral dress and love it. It has a bright yet soft look. The material is light and cool making it wearable in warm or cool weather. Very comfortable and feminine feeling. Nice length- not too long or short - and great for dancing! It looked huge at first but fits great once I put it on. Love the boho style too.

★★★★★Ria LI love this dress
I loved this dress, As far as fit goes, the dress fits better on the bottom if you have hips and a butt. I do not fill out the dress well on the bottom, but that’s ok it’s still beautiful. This dress is stunning, I absolutely love it, I bought it for a friends wedding. I got tons of compliments on it! Highly recommend.

This shirt can be worn when you want to dress up or wear as a casual outfit! All you need!
Fabric is light weight and beautiful. Hits just right in length. Beautiful
Absolutely love this top!! So flattering and super comfortable I don’t have to worry about it riding up or anything.
These match perfectly with the stretch wide leg pants that I purchased. Ordered a size small and I’m 5’4, 130lb and the size small is perfect and very flattering!
These pants are so light and comfy- great for summer! I went with a large but easily could have done a medium since the waist is kind of loose. I have big hips though so I like the extra room.
