The Best Maxi Dresses for a Cruise

The Best Maxi Dresses for a Cruise

Tie-Dye Maxi Dress
If you haven’t bought a maxi in years because you just can’t imagine yourself wearing one to your local mall or out to lunch with a friend, that’s understandable. However, on a cruise, you’ll feel right at home wearing a maxi dress. Maxi dresses are perfect for sun and sail vacations.
Colorful, breezy maxi dresses like this tie-dye maxi ( above) have an effortless look and feel and give off a relaxed holiday vibe. Complete your outfit by adding some comfy slides, a straw bag, and a small bag, and it’s smooth sailing ahead. This dress would be great by the pool ( it could be used a coverup for a cruise swimsuit), for sightseeing or while having lunch at the ship’s buffet.
Tropical Paradise
One of the joys of getting away in the winter is being able to slip into some lighter colors like this stunning peach coral maxi dress. Imagine what this would look like with even a hint of a tan! This dress is made of jersey, so it falls nicely against the body and has some lovely stretch to it. Plus, the design is really unique.
Don’t you love the shapely front gathering, almost like a sarong, and sexy leg-revealing side slit? To play up the tropical feel, I’ve paired it with a cool straw bag, gold flats, and these very fun earrings. A cruise is a great place to wear bigger earrings than you would typically wear. Dangly earrings are fun and flirty.
Two-Piece Maxi Dress
Here’s an interesting maxi, I have not seen before. It’s actually a two-piece maxi dress – a wrap top and skirt -but it looks like one. This is great for the gal with a trim middle who doesn’t mind a sexy flash of it showing through now and again. It’s alluring in a classy way.
This would be ideal for a nice dinner onboard the ship, and it’s got sleeves, that many maxis don’t! If you want to wear heels, these chunky sandals are sturdier for walking around in than high, skinny strappy sandals. Flats sandals would be fine too. You see tons of flats on board. It just makes sense.
Asymmetrical Maxi
If you’ve ever been on a cruise, you know, they have casual dinner nights and fancier dinner nights. This pretty, striped maxi is as colorful as a tropical island and would be lovely for dinner in the dining room or at many of the specialty restaurants onboard ships these days.
This type of dress, with the high-low hem, really does look nice with a heel. So you could try something like this nude, low, open-toe pump. A slightly chunkier heel would be fine too.
Nautical Striped Maxi
You couldn’t get more nautical than stripes, making them everyone’s print for cruising. Stripes are sporty, which translates into fun, energetic, adventurous, and youthful, precisely the look you are aiming for when you travel.
No skinny, too bare spaghetti straps here! Short sleeves give this navy and white striped maxi the coverage you want when you are out and about during the day and don’t want to get too much sun on your shoulders. Rope sandals and raffia tote with a magnetic snap are perfect for shopping onshore when you have lots of souvenirs to carry in your bag.
Off the Shoulder Maxi
This romantic blue off the shoulder dress by Lily Pulitzer is airy and relaxing, just what you need to settle into vacation mode. Add a pair of lacy, crystal-embellished sandals to dress it up at night when you go for dinner.
Note: be sure to wear in the sandals before you board the ship. Your new sandals may be a bit tight at first, and you don’t want the crystals on the sandals rubbing against some part of your foot and doing damage.

Tombstone In Arizona
Tombstone Arizona
If you are a cowboy lifestyle lover like me, Tombstone in Arizona should be on your travel list. Tombstone is a town in southeastern Arizona, known for its Wild West history. Exhibits at the Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park include a replica gallows. On historic Allen Street, the O.K. Corral outdoor theater re-enacts an 1881 cowboy gunfight. Resident ghosts are said to haunt the bullet-riddled Bird Cage Theatre. Outlaws are among the local townsfolk buried at the 1878 Boothill Cemetery.

Tombstone AZ remains one of the most iconic towns of the Wild West. Located in Cochise County, Arizona, Edward Lawrence Schieffelin founded Tombstone in 1879 after discovering silver in the area. Schieffelin and his brother Al made millions of dollars from silver mines in the Cochise Country area. Reportedly, Cochise County silver mines produced $85,000,000 ($2,396,420,879.12 in 2019 after inflation). With so much money being made, it’s no wonder Tombstone AZ became one of the country’s most historically known towns in American Wild West history.
Most Historical People and Events
Tombstone AZ is a historical gold mine—pardon the pun. Being that Tombstone was such a prosperous silver mining town, it attracted many people to move there looking to strike it big. With tens of millions of dollars worth of silver bullion mined from the immediate area during its hay day, Tombstone quickly became the largest bustling silver mining town in Arizona. In less than seven years, the town’s population exploded from merely 100 to 14,000 people—an astonishing amount of growth in less than a decade.

With such growth, it’s no surprise numerous famous names and events are associated with the name Tombstone. Many movies (Tombstone – 1993), television shows (Tombstone Territory – 1957 to 1960), Western novels (Tombstone by Giles Tippette), and products have been named after or referenced the historical town in some form or fashion (Tombstone Pizza comes to mind).
Why You Should Visit Tombstone, Arizona, in 2020
Tombstone AZ is mostly known for being a rough, dangerous mining town, which is probably why so many people are so enthralled by its history. Tombstone is best known as being the location of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral between famed lawmen Virgil Earp, Morgan Earp, Wyatt Earp, and Doc Holliday and a group of outlaws called the Cochise County Cowboys. Many tourists coming to Arizona pay a visit to the O.K. Corral to learn about the actual events that took place there by watching live reenactments.

With 350 days of sunshine a year, Tucson, Arizona is the place to vacation! For authentic Cowboy adventures and Southwestern experiences, Tucson and surrounding Southern Arizona fits the bill. Tucson is famous for its dramatic beauty, the Sonoran Desert covers this region with spectacular cacti – including the giant saguaro, a symbol of the American Southwest. All my life I have been mesmerized by these giant beautiful cacti, and they don't disappoint in person. The vegetation in the area is truly unique and one wonders about all the exotic cacti which includes a variety called teddy bear cholla.
Full of stallion guest ranches, gun fight acts, horseback rides, mine tours, and cattle drives Tucson recalls Old West roots, but you’ll also find yourself surrounded in a hub of spas, resort hotels, and championship golf courses and amazing, trend-setting restaurants. Tucson was the first city to earn the designation of World City of Gastronomy by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Plus, with a thriving visual and performing arts scene and respected galleries and museums, Tucson’s vibrant multicultural heritage shines. I love the unique art galleries, turquoise jewelry and Indian jewelry shops that have mushroomed all around Tucson.
But don’t be fooled by the term “desert” because mountain ranges in all directions offer scenic drives, and even snow skiing. In the winter you can go for a hike in the valley, then drive up to Mt. Lemmon and enjoy the slopes. Tucson’s legendary year-round sunshine and saguaro-and-sunset landscape have romanced visitors for decades.
